Forest Layers Comparator

How much of this landscape is forest?

A simple question with a more complex answer than you might expect. Public forest data layers can give very different numbers because they define and measure forests in different ways. The Forest Layers Comparator compares them side by side, showing what each dataset measures, where the results differ, and when each is most useful for EUDR, deforestation, carbon and conservation decisions across nine tropical landscapes. Pick a location to begin your exploration.

How this is built

All layers from Google Earth Engine, reduced to binary forest masks on a common 10 m grid (local UTM) clipped to each 10 km² AOI, compared pixel-by-pixel. Every dataset's ⓘ opens its full record. Cropland comparison is deferred to a later version. Map overlays sit on the AOI bounding box (areas computed on the equal-grid UTM rasters).
